Gus Hale has served our country loyally for his whole life. He was a Royal Engineer Paratrooper in the Falklands. He served in North Ireland. He was prepared to give his life for our country. But now Gus sits outside a clinic for post-traumatic stress disorder, that was shut down by our government for “funding” reasons. No-one will help him or the countless other veterans who were suddenly kicked out of the clinic called Combat Stress. He has nowhere to turn. So he is now on a hunger strike — and I’m worried it might actually kill him. Let’s raise funds for more military families in need. I’m setting up a registered charitable trust that will focus on military families — like Daisy, and like Gareth Knox before her. In fact, Knox and Daisy’s mother have both agreed to sit as trustees on that charitable trust. We’ve contacted a law firm that specializes in charitable trusts, and we are drafting the paperwork now (registrations take several months). So let’s keep the goodwill going. Daisy is a 7-year-old girl with cerebral palsy who is in desperate need of a new wheelchair. She's the youngest child of eight, born into a military family. The NHS can’t fund this so it’s down to the generosity of the great British public. The all-terrain wheelchair she needs costs £21,000 and we want to get Daisy a new wheelchair for Christmas!
