The Sun’s Travel Editor Lisa Minot joins Ian Collins to discuss Air India’s “tragic” plane crash. Although initially it was believed that there were no survivors, a British national is now confirmed as being a survivor. He is currently being treated in hospital for his injuries. Tom Swarbrick is joined by Travel Expert Simon Calder and Pilot and Aviation Specialist at Flight Radar 24 Chris Lomas to discuss the fallout from a plane crash in India. Earlier today an Air India plane bound for London's Gatwick Airport crashed shortly after take-off with more than 200 passengers onboard. The passenger jet, a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, crashed shortly after take-off at 13:38 local time close to India's Ahmedabad Airport. Flight AI171 had a capacity of 256 passengers, with 230 said to be onboard at the time of the crash, alongside 12 crew members. 53 Britons were aboard the flight at the time of the crash, Air India has confirmed. Indian media have reported that 40-year-old Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a British national, has survived the deadly crash. Ian Collins is joined by writer and academic Andrew Tettenborn, discussing disorder that has erupted in Ballymena, Northern Ireland. The violence began around Clonavon Terrace on Monday night following an earlier peaceful protest which was organised in support of the family of a girl who was the victim of an alleged sexual assault in the area. Two teenage boys, who spoke to a court through a Romanian interpreter, have been charged. Elsewhere in Salford, a 16-year-old girl was charged with assaulting an emergency worker and four arrests were made after disorder broke out. Mr Tettenborn says the Government has not done enough to prevent riots from happening again.
