Donald Trump bombs Iran: Security expert breaks down the strike | LBC

After the US bombed Iran, James Hanson is joined by Iranian-American security analyst Benham Ben Taleblu to dissect the implications of what he calls “nothing short of history being made.”

Taleblu explains how the strike hit long-discussed nuclear sites like Natanz and Fordo, and argues that Iran’s ability to respond militarily is weakened: “The Israeli military successes… have neutered much of Iran’s transnational terrorist apparatus.”

He warns that Iran could still retaliate by targeting US bases or closing the Strait of Hormuz, a move that would “have a huge effect on the global economy” but could also “invite a wider aggression” and backfire on the regime.

Taleblu also says Supreme Leader Khamenei has underestimated Trump: “He did not believe… that all options were on the table.”

He concludes that until Iran sees “a nationalist, liberal, secular, representative government… you will not have peace in the Middle East.”
