“Spying On Bank Accounts” | Civil Servants To Be Given New Powers

Alan Miller, co-founder of Together Declaration joins Mike Graham to discuss reports the government is to give civil servants new powers to be able to “spy” on peoples' bank accounts in a bid to crack down on fraud and money laundering. Alan says, “We’ve seen big questions around the Civil Service doing things regardless of what the elected government says.” They also discuss reports that the government has announced plans for a digital 'wallet’ that would allow people to access digital versions of government documents, including a new digital driving licence, which will be possible to use for age verification in shops and pubs once introduced. #id #digital #government #drivinglicence Click here for more from Talk https://talk.tv If you need any help visit: https://talk.tv/helplines

Can Israel be right about Iran, but wrong about Gaza? | LBC

James O'Brien poses the question of whether it is possible to hold two positions: can Israel be wrong about its actions in Gaza, but justified in its attack on Iran? Skeptical of the idea that Iran cannot produce nuclear weapons, nor has an interest in firing them at Israel, he asks if Israel must always be considered right or wrong in its actions. Israel has claimed it has achieved “aerial superiority” over the Iranian capital of Tehran. The IDF says it has destroyed enough of Iran’s air defences that it can operate planes over the capital without facing major threats. A statement claims Israel now completely controls the skies over the city. This has not yet been independently verified. Five Israelis have been killed and a further 70 injured in the latest exchange of fire between Iran and Israel. It comes after President Donald Trump urged both sides to "make a deal" as tensions reached boiling point in the Middle East. On Sunday, Israeli strikes killed the chief of Iran's armed forces intelligence unit as Benjamin Netanyahu's forces continued to carry out attacks on Iranian targets. On Sunday afternoon, Iran launched another wave of drones and ballistic missiles, but the IDF said that most were intercepted, and there were no reports of any impacts. Israel launched its first round of strikes on Friday, hitting 250 sites including nuclear facilities, military sites and populated areas. According to Iranian media, at least 224 people have been killed by Israeli strikes since Friday. The US president said calls and meetings were taking place to get both sides to come to the negotiating table and end the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
